Lyne: A Short-Post Social App
People write posts of up to 300 characters, follow each other, like, repost, reply and save, browse community feeds, group people into lists, chat privately, and control what they see with mutes, blocks and muted words. Optional AI helpers make it easier to post well and keep up.
Anyone can browse public posts without an account. Sign up with email or Google to post, follow and chat.
Who Lyne is for
Lyne is a short-post social app built around the people reading, the people posting, and the moderators keeping it healthy.
Readers
Browse public posts without an account. Home has two tabs: Discover for the newest posts from everyone, and Following for just the people you follow.
Members
Post, react, reply and save, pin community feeds, build lists of people, send direct messages, and shape their timelines with mutes, blocks, muted words and muted topics.
Moderators
Posts that were flagged by AI and published anyway go to an admin review queue, so a person looks at borderline content instead of the system silently removing it.
What Lyne does
The core of a modern social network, with clear limits and user control at every step.
Short posts
Up to 300 characters with one image (JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP up to 5 MB). The counter turns yellow near the limit and red past it.
Like, repost, reply and save
Reposts appear in followers’ timelines marked with your name, replies notify the author, and saved posts live on a private Saved page.
Community feeds
Follow feeds built by the community, pin up to 10 as tabs on Home, or create your own from one rule: top posts this week, an account’s posts or likes, a keyword, or a list of people.
Lists
Group up to 500 people into a named list and read a timeline of just their posts. Private lists are visible only to you.
Direct messages
Start a private chat from any profile. New messages show as a badge, and each person chooses who can message them: everyone, people they follow, or no one.
Mute, block and filter
Mute accounts quietly, block to remove follows both ways and stop interaction, and filter up to 100 muted words or phrases out of timelines and notifications.
Notifications
Likes, reposts, replies and new followers, each type switchable on or off in Settings, with Mark all as read.
Account control
Display name, handle, email and password, appearance, notification choices, app passwords for separate sign-ins, and deactivating or deleting the account.
AI helpers that stay optional
Every AI request goes through Lyne’s server, never straight from the browser. Every call is logged, and each helper has a daily limit per person.
Review before posting
Before a post goes out, AI checks its text and image for spam, harassment or graphic content. A flagged post gets a Review before posting? prompt: edit it or post anyway. Nothing is silently blocked.
Catch me up
On a post with 5 or more replies, one button summarizes the discussion you can see in 3 to 5 bullet points. Up to 20 a day.
Image descriptions
Attach an image and AI suggests alt text for people using screen readers. It only fills an empty box, and the author edits it before posting. Up to 50 a day.
Search by meaning
Choose Meaning (AI) in Search to find posts about an idea even when they use different words, such as posts about remote work burnout. Up to 50 a day.
Muted topics
Mute a topic like crypto rather than an exact word, and AI hides related posts from your timelines, even ones that never use the word. Your own posts always stay visible.
How Lyne is built
Design decisions that keep a social app safe without making it heavy-handed.
Moderation with a human in the loop
AI flags, the author decides, and anything published anyway goes to a review queue. The app never removes a post silently on an AI verdict.
AI behind the server
No AI calls from the browser, a log of every request, and per-person daily limits that reset at midnight UTC, with no limit on the safety check before posting.
Clear, published limits
300-character posts, one image up to 5 MB, 100 muted words, 20 muted topics, 500 people per list and 10 pinned feeds. Limits are documented, not discovered.
Feeds from simple rules
Every custom feed is built from a single, understandable rule, so members always know why a post is in front of them.
Public by default, private where it counts
Public posts can be read without an account, while saved posts, private lists and direct messages stay with their owner.
Flexible sign-in
Email and password or Google, plus revocable app passwords for separate sign-ins that are shown once and never again.

Build something like this
Lyne shows how Lycore builds community products: the social features people expect, moderation that keeps a person in the loop, and AI that helps without taking control. Planning a niche network, a member community or a creator platform? Let’s talk about what yours needs.
