What Is Mobile App Development?

Mobile app development is the process of building software applications that run on smartphones and tablets. At Lycore, we build apps for iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android, using either native development or cross-platform frameworks like Flutter and React Native depending on what your product actually needs.

Most development agencies default to cross-platform because it is cheaper and faster to build. We make that recommendation only when it is genuinely right for the product. If your app requires deep device integration, complex animations, or performance-sensitive features, we will tell you so and build it natively.

Every app we ship goes through App Store and Google Play submission. We handle the full process including store listing setup, screenshots, review guideline compliance, and resubmission if Apple or Google pushes back.

Mobile App Types We Build

We cover the full spectrum of mobile application categories across both major platforms.

Consumer Apps

User-facing apps built for the App Store and Google Play. We design for retention, engagement, and real-world usage patterns that drive reviews and repeat opens.

icon

Enterprise and Internal Tools

Apps built for your workforce. Field service tools, inventory management, inspection apps, and internal dashboards that integrate with your existing systems.

icon

B2B Platform Apps

Mobile interfaces for SaaS platforms and marketplaces. We build the app layer that sits on top of your existing API infrastructure with feature parity to your web product.

icon

On-Demand and Marketplace Apps

Two-sided apps connecting providers and customers. We have built food ordering, taxi booking, grocery delivery, and service marketplace apps from the ground up.

icon

Fintech and Finance Apps

Payments, wallets, trading interfaces, and banking features. We build with security and compliance in mind including data encryption, session management, and audit logging.

Healthcare and Wellness Apps

HIPAA-aware mobile applications for patient engagement, appointment booking, telemedicine, and health tracking with appropriate data handling throughout.

Native vs Cross-Platform: Which Is Right for You?

We make the technical recommendation after understanding your product requirements - not based on what is faster to build.

Native Development

Swift for iOS, Kotlin for Android. Two separate codebases, maximum platform performance. Best for apps that push hardware limits, require deep OS integration, or need to feel indistinguishable from platform-native apps.

Best fit:

  • High-performance applications (real-time, AR, video processing)
  • Apps requiring deep hardware access (camera, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC)
  • Products where App Store feature parity matters on launch
  • Long-term products with dedicated platform teams

Higher initial cost. Faster iteration when you have platform-specific teams.

Cross-Platform (Flutter / React Native)

One codebase that compiles to both iOS and Android. Modern cross-platform frameworks produce near-native performance for the vast majority of app types. We use Flutter for UI-heavy apps and React Native for JavaScript-heavy teams.

Best fit:

  • Startups launching on both platforms simultaneously
  • MVPs and early-stage products validating market fit
  • Apps where consistent UI across platforms is a priority
  • Teams with web backgrounds wanting mobile coverage

Lower cost. Faster to market. 90% of apps do not need native.

Why Choose Lycore for Mobile App Development?

We are engineers first. Every commitment we make is backed by how we actually work.

Direct access to your team

No project managers filtering communication. You talk directly to the engineers building your product in daily standups and async updates.

Full IP ownership guaranteed

Every line of code, every design file, every App Store account is assigned to you in writing before a single line of code is written.

Store submission handled end to end

App Store and Google Play review processes are unpredictable. We manage submission, respond to rejections, and get your app live without putting that burden on you.

Built to scale from day one

We architect apps for growth. The infrastructure, API design, and data models we choose on day one will not be a bottleneck when you hit 100,000 users.

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers to questions we get asked before every project.

How much does mobile app development cost?

Mobile app development costs vary significantly based on complexity, platform, and feature set. A focused single-platform app with core features typically starts around USD 15,000. A full dual-platform product with backend API, admin dashboard, push notifications, and payment integration usually falls between USD 25,000 and USD 50,000. We give you a fixed price after a scoping session, so there are no surprises mid-project.

How long does it take to build a mobile app?

A focused MVP on a single platform typically takes 8 to 12 weeks from signed contract to App Store submission. A full dual-platform product with complex backend logic, third-party integrations, and custom UI typically takes 16 to 24 weeks. Timeline depends heavily on how quickly design decisions are made and feedback is provided. We share a detailed project timeline before work begins.

Should I build for iOS or Android first?

It depends on your target audience. If your users are primarily in the US and you are targeting higher-income demographics or professionals, iOS typically has better early adoption. If you are building for a broader global audience or price-sensitive markets, Android has significantly higher market share. If budget allows, cross-platform development with Flutter or React Native lets you launch on both simultaneously at a cost close to building for one platform natively.

Do you handle App Store and Google Play submission?

Yes, we handle the complete submission process for both stores. This includes creating or configuring your developer accounts, preparing store listings, writing descriptions, preparing screenshots and preview videos, submitting the binary, and responding to any review feedback from Apple or Google. App Store review in particular can be unpredictable and sometimes requires resubmission. We manage that process until your app is live.

Who owns the app code and assets after the project?

You own everything. All source code, design files, App Store accounts, backend infrastructure, and any third-party service configurations are assigned to you. This is covered in our standard contract before any work begins. We retain zero rights to anything built during your engagement. If you want to take the codebase to another team at any point, we provide full documentation and handover support.
