React Native App Development Services
Cross-platform iOS and Android apps using React Native. True native components, shared JavaScript logic, and a team that knows the framework inside out.
What Is React Native?
React Native is a cross-platform mobile framework maintained by Meta. It lets developers write JavaScript and React code that compiles into real native iOS and Android components. Unlike Flutter which uses its own rendering engine, React Native renders actual platform UI components which means your app uses the same buttons, text inputs, and navigation patterns that users already expect on their platform.
At Lycore, we use React Native when a client has an existing React web codebase they want to share logic with, when their team already works in JavaScript, or when platform-native look and feel is a hard requirement. We also use it for MVPs and enterprise tools where web integration matters.
React Native powers apps used by billions of people including Facebook, Instagram, Shopify, and Coinbase. The ecosystem is mature, the community is large, and the available libraries cover almost every mobile use case. When the alternative would be two native codebases, React Native is often the most practical and cost-effective decision.

React Native Strengths
Why experienced teams choose React Native for cross-platform development.
True native rendering
React Native maps JavaScript components to real iOS and Android UI elements. Your app uses the actual platform navigation, inputs, and gestures that users expect on each OS rather than a custom-drawn approximation.
Shared code with React web
Business logic, API clients, authentication flows, state management, and utility functions can be shared between your React web app and React Native mobile app. Teams that already ship React products gain mobile capability without hiring entirely new engineers.
Massive ecosystem
React Native has access to the entire npm ecosystem and a large library of community packages for payments, maps, analytics, biometrics, push notifications, and more. Third-party SDKs from Stripe, Google, Firebase, and others provide first-class React Native support.

React Native vs Flutter: How We Decide
We recommend based on your product requirements and existing team skills - not preference.
React Native is the better choice when…
- Your team already knows React or JavaScript
- You want to share code with an existing React web application
- Platform-native UI look and feel is a requirement
- You rely on JavaScript libraries with no Dart equivalent
- Your app is content-heavy rather than animation-heavy
- Enterprise tools where web parity matters
Flutter is the better choice when…
- UI quality and smooth animation are top priorities
- Pixel-perfect consistency across all devices matters
- Your team does not have a JavaScript background
- You plan to expand to web or desktop from the same codebase
- Your app has complex custom visual components
- Performance under heavy UI load is critical
Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about React Native from engineers who build with it.
Is React Native a good choice for production apps?
Yes. React Native has been in production at scale since 2015. Apps built with it include Facebook, Instagram, Shopify, Discord, Coinbase, and thousands of others. The New Architecture released in React Native 0.71 and beyond significantly improved performance with a new rendering system, concurrent features, and a faster JavaScript interface. For the vast majority of app types React Native is a mature, production-grade choice.
Can React Native access native device features?
Yes. React Native supports camera, GPS, biometrics, Bluetooth, NFC, push notifications, in-app purchases, background tasks, and nearly every other native device capability through its plugin ecosystem and direct native module integration. For features not covered by community packages, you can write native Swift or Kotlin modules and call them directly from JavaScript. In practice this is rarely necessary for standard app requirements.
How does React Native handle over-the-air updates?
React Native supports over-the-air (OTA) code updates through services like Expo Updates or Microsoft’s CodePush. This means you can push JavaScript bundle updates directly to users without going through the App Store or Google Play review process. Only JavaScript changes qualify for OTA updates. Native code changes still require a full store submission. This is a significant operational advantage for teams that need to push hotfixes or iterate on features quickly.
How much does React Native development cost?
React Native development typically costs 30 to 50 percent less than separate native iOS and Android apps. A focused MVP typically starts around USD 12,000. A full-featured cross-platform app with backend integration, authentication, real-time features, and payment processing typically falls between USD 28,000 and USD 55,000. We provide a fixed price after a scoping session so there are no surprises during the project.
Can we migrate an existing native app to React Native?
Yes, though migration is rarely all-or-nothing. The most practical approach is to identify which screens or modules can be migrated incrementally while keeping the rest of the native codebase running. React Native supports brownfield integration which lets you embed React Native views inside an existing native app. This allows you to migrate screen by screen without a full rewrite. We assess each migration on a case by case basis and give you a realistic view of the effort and risk involved.
Need a Fully Native App?
React Native handles the vast majority of app requirements. When your product needs the full depth of a native platform, we build that too.
iOS App Development
Native Swift and SwiftUI apps for iPhone and iPad. Full App Store submission, TestFlight distribution, and deep iOS platform integration handled end to end.
Android App Development
Native Kotlin and Jetpack Compose apps for the full Android device range. Google Play submission, Firebase integration, and hardware-level API access.
